Connecting Caring Learning Serving

Youth Ministry

Ministry

Youth Ministry at the Owatonna UMC is geared towards helping students in grades 6-12 understand who Jesus is and encouraging them to live out their faith.  Each Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.  the students gather at the church for a night of fun activities, meaningful Bible lessons, and a time to hang out with their friends.  If you would like more information about our Wednesday night youth ministry, please e-mail Matthew Sundquist at matthew.oumc@q.com

Service Opportunities

At least once a year we try to take our junior and senior high students on mission trips.  Past trips have included our senior high students building a house in Juarez, Mexico.  Our junor high students were involved in Urban Servants in the Twin Cities area.  The students also worked on the Wind River Reservation in Riverton, Wyoming.  Heading to Rapid City, South Dakota, and working at the campground was just one event our junior high students did in the past.  Lastly, we sent students to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, to help with hurricane clean-up.  We also do more local service projects which include food drives to help out the Steele County Food Shelf and volunteering our time with Feed My Starving Children and the Simpson Shelter.

Special Events

Every couple of months we plan something that the students can do together that is not on a Wednesday night.  We do lock-ins, game nights, sledding in the winter, going to the county fair in the summer, Super Bowl parties, Christmas parties, etc.  Check the church calendar for dates as information will be made available as these events come closer!
