Bishop Ough video message: Easter cannot be canceled

Bishop Bruce R. Ough is asking congregations to suspend in-person worship until at least May 10 in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and related health agency and governmental guidelines. But he points out that regardless of what is happening in our world on April 12, Easter cannot be canceled. "We may not be able to gather in our glorious Easter celebrations in our lily-decorated sanctuaries, but Easter cannot be canceled," he said. "The resurrection cannot be stopped or delayed or defeated!"

Two important updates

1. On Monday, five days after announcing that the 2020 General Conference would be postponed, the Executive Committee of the Commission on General Conference said the rescheduled gathering will be in 2021 and the hope is to keep it in Minneapolis.  Read press release

2. The Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church has asked all United Methodists to join people of faith in a day of prayer tomorrow, March 25, asking God to rid the world of the coronavirus pandemic. All are urged to pray the Lord’s Prayer at noon in their own time zones. Bishop Ough encourages all Minnesota United Methodists to participate.  Read statement

We'll be sending you more information about other things related to our two churches.  For now we can let you know these three things.

1. We will be honoring the Bishop's request for us to not have worship services until after May 10th!

2. We will be providing something as an alternative to our face to face worship services and we'll do so as a Facebook Live-stream event on both of the Facebook pages of the churches on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 9 a.m.

3. Please continue to support our two congregations in your prayers and with your financial giving.  The expenses of our churches continue to be present even though we do not have face to face worship services.  Your prayers are very much needed at this time, as well.
